On September 17-18, BIO-INTEL-MOB Partners met for a first General Assembly, nine months after the project’s official launch, to review key achievements and discuss the next steps.
Among the topics discussed was the importance of developing tools to maximise the impact of BIO-INTEL-MOB activities. Defining relevant measurement criteria to evaluate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the first stages of project implementation would bring greater insights and support decision-making on data collection and solution implementation. It would also guide the evaluation of transferability, sustainability, and life-cycle analysis of the solutions proposed by BIO-INTEL-MOB, to achieve high-level operational, economic, social and environmental impact.
On September 18, Prisca Numbisi, from BIO-INTEL-MOB Partner VUB –MOBI Electromobility Research Centre , engaged project partners, including municipalities, in a co-designing workshop for the impact assessment tools development, led by VUB. The workshop was done in two phases: KPI measurement criteria prioritisation and data collection adaptation.
In the first phase, a KPI prioritisation exercise was conducted, using a digital participatory tool, allowing partners to assess which measurement criteria best aligned with the project’s KPIs on a scale from 1- not important, to 5 – very important , reflecting the solutions to be developed and deployed within their respective pilot sites.
For example, when assessing the KPI “Air Quality and Noise Improvement”, partners were invited to evaluate four potential indicators, rating the most and least , ranging from; urban air pollution, noise exposure levels, passenger car ownership, and average speed improvements.
In the second phase, pilot cities were invited to re-evaluate the selected KPIs in light of potential challenges related to data collection and solution deployment across the different pilot sites.
Overall, the workshop engaged more than 30 participants from the project consortium and contributed to establishing a culture of participation between partners.
The outcomes of the workshop, together with the project’s impact assessment implementation roadmap, will be publicly shared through the upcoming Deliverable D5.1: Impact Assessment and KPI Benchmarking Report.
